Facts/Characteristics = you must have the part of speech, and something else to characterize the term (ex: picture, syllable breakdown, etymology…) Example = synonym AND the term used in a sentence. Read/Annotate the first of two opinion pieces “Why College Isn’t (And Shouldn’t Have to Be) For Everyone (pg. 83). Annotate for the following: Elements of an argument (place a start and notate) Different types of evidence (remember the chart) Circle unknown words phrases; try to determine the meaning Comments and questions about the text Rhetorical appeals Update your charts with this new text and information! 4. Watch the documentary, "Ivory Tower" use your chart record advantages and disadvantages record notes identifying evidence to support both sides of the argument.
